I’m teaching myself software development and recording my experiences along the way.
My educational background is in the social sciences, but I have been drawn towards writing code since my Master’s degree, where I found myself using R to wrangle data.
Later, while I was collecting data for another school project, I wrote my own wrapper around a popular, lower-level API for fetching Reddit data.
During that experience, I learned that I really enjoy learning about code and then applying my knowledge to create solutions. In my current role as a research coordinator, I write code to create custom logic to meet complex requirements for surveys (I still make scripts to wrangle data too).
’m building software for the sake of making good, useful tools. rather than it simply being a required step in the academic research pipeline.
I’m building a budgeting app that leverages AI to automatically categorize and split transactions.
